Living in Deer Lake Place, Burnaby: A Neighbourhood Guide

Living in Deer Lake Place, Burnaby: A Neighbourhood Guide

Deer Lake Place is one of Central Burnaby's established residential neighbourhoods, known for its quiet streets, detached homes and convenient location near Deer Lake Park.

In the video below, Keenan Neilly takes a walk through Deer Lake Place and gives a closer look at the neighbourhood and some of the features that make it such an appealing place to live.

A Central Burnaby Neighbourhood

One of Deer Lake Place's biggest advantages is its location. The neighbourhood sits in Central Burnaby, providing convenient access to other parts of the city while maintaining a distinctly residential feel.

Metrotown, Highgate and Brentwood are all accessible from the area, while Highway 1 and major Burnaby routes make travelling throughout the Lower Mainland relatively convenient.

Homes in Deer Lake Place

Deer Lake Place is primarily a detached-home neighbourhood, with homes representing different periods of Burnaby's development.

You'll find older original houses alongside substantially renovated homes and newer construction. Lot sizes, home styles and redevelopment potential can vary considerably from property to property, which makes understanding comparable sales and the characteristics of a particular lot especially important when buying or selling in the neighbourhood.

Deer Lake Park and Recreation

One of the area's defining features is its proximity to Deer Lake Park.

The park provides walking trails, green space and access to some of Burnaby's best-known cultural and recreational destinations. Having such a significant park nearby is one of the features that gives this part of Central Burnaby a different feel from the city's denser urban centres.

What Is It Like to Live in Deer Lake Place?

Deer Lake Place offers an interesting combination: a quiet residential neighbourhood without being isolated from the rest of Burnaby.

For buyers who prefer detached homes, residential streets and access to parks while still wanting to remain reasonably close to shopping, transit and major transportation routes, it's an area worth considering.

As with any neighbourhood, the individual street and property can make a significant difference. Traffic, lot characteristics, orientation, redevelopment potential and the condition of surrounding homes are all things we consider when helping clients evaluate a property here.
